Mino-jichaag Mtigwaaki — the Good Spirit Forest

In the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation, Ferguson Forest Centre Corporation supported the establishment of Mino-jichaag Mtigwaaki (the Good Spirit Forest), a commemorative Indigenous site within the Ferguson Forest Centre Arboretum. The site was designed by local artist Finian Paibomesai and is situated within the traditional territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe. Its design incorporates a medicine wheel, a symbol representing balance, interconnectedness, and teachings connected to Mino-Bimaadiziwin, or “living a good life.” Mino-jichaag Mtigwaaki is intended as a place for reflection, learning, and acknowledgement of Indigenous presence, history, and ongoing connection to the land.
