New Year’s message from President FFCC

Wednesday, 29 December 2021 10:06

Season’s Greetings and Happy New Year from our team at the Ferguson Forest Centre!

It’s been a challenging but very successful 2021, during which we have partnered with local community groups and added a number of superb, COVID-friendly outdoor recreational opportunities for our community. In addition to our long-standing 22 km of recreational trails and the arboretum, new additions in 2021 have included a toboggan hill, groomed cross-country ski trails, an 18-hole disc golf course (yes, it’s being upgraded from 9 to 18 holes!), improvements to the dog park, as well as a kayak launch and bicycle racks at Anniversary Park. Our tree nursery has done incredible work under very difficult COVID pandemic conditions to further improve its nursery products, processes and its profitability, all of which is invested back into our recreational activities.

We look forward to an equally successful 2022 with several projects planned to enhance the recreational opportunities offered by the Centre. These include re-surfacing our parking lots along CR 44, water drainage projects to mitigate flooding along some of our hiking trails, improved trail signage, as well as upgrading some portions of the FFC to Accessibility standards.

We hope that many of you will continue to enjoy our outdoor recreational opportunities throughout 2022. None of this would be possible without the tireless work of our staff and volunteers.  We are always in search of new volunteer members to the FFC Corporation to help assist in our role of promoting awareness of and interest in sustainable forest management, and to ensure that our community continues to benefit from the best possible outdoor and natural recreational experiences. If you are interested in becoming a part of this important community corporation, please contact Wes Herring, FFCC Vice- President, at This email address is being protected from spambots. Wishing you all the best for 2022!
